Doorway helps immigrants and non-native-English speakers find language programs that fit their life. We are not a school. We do not teach classes or issue certificates. We help you understand your options and get matched with schools and programs you may want to contact.

What to send us

You do not need to send private immigration papers or financial information.

The best message is simple:

Costs can vary a lot by city, school, program length, and format. Many adult ESL classes are free or low cost through libraries, adult schools, community colleges, and nonprofits. Some private language schools may charge roughly $200-$1,500 per course or level. Online tutoring is often about $15-$60 per hour. Test-prep courses may be around $100-$800. Matching is free for students. Participating schools pay Doorway a flat fee, so students do not pay us to be matched.

Can you help me find free or low-cost English classes?

Yes. Many communities have free or low-cost adult ESL classes through libraries, adult schools, community colleges, faith-based groups, and nonprofits. Availability depends on your city, schedule, and level. Tell us where you live and when you can study, and we can help you look at options.

Can you answer visa or citizenship eligibility questions?

No. Doorway does not give immigration or legal advice.
